Ariana Grande Demands Trump Administration Stop Using Her Music on TikTok

Pop superstar Ariana Grande has publicly demanded that the Trump administration stop using her music in its promotional materials after her 2024 hit song “Bye” was featured in a controversial White House video.

The TikTok Video and Music Use

Earlier this week, the White House published a video on its official TikTok account containing footage of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and other federal officers carrying out arrests.

The video used Ariana Grande’s song “Bye”—a track from her hit album Eternal Sunshine—as its background audio. The post was accompanied by a caption reading:

“Bye-bye 👋 President Trump has delivered the most secure border in history,” directly referencing the title of the song.

Grande’s Backlash and Muted Audio

On Thursday, June 11, Grande left a direct comment under the White House’s TikTok post expressing her strong disapproval of her music being associated with the footage.

“Please do not ever use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense. Fck ice,” the singer-songwriter wrote.

Following her public protest, the audio has since been muted on the TikTok video.

White House Response

In response to the singer’s comments, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson issued a statement to Variety defending the administration’s border enforcement efforts and criticizing the artist’s stance.

“We’ll say this one last time: what’s actually barbaric, inhumane, and heinous are the criminal illegal aliens who have injured and murdered innocent American citizens,” Jackson stated.

The incident highlights the ongoing tension between prominent entertainment figures and political administrations over the unauthorized use of copyrighted music for political messaging.
