What started as an intense online backlash for Nigerian content creator and Twitch streamer Davrel has ended in an unexpected windfall, thanks to the generosity of Afrobeats superstar Davido.
The Livestream Controversy
The situation began when Davrel found himself at the center of a social media storm after playing an unreleased track by Davido during one of his live broadcasts.
The incident quickly sparked heavy criticism on X (formerly Twitter), where fans accused the streamer of disrupting the official rollout plan and potentially damaging the song’s future streaming performance. As the criticism escalated, Davrel was subjected to intense public dragging across digital platforms.
A Surprising Call from Ibiza
At the time of the controversy, Davido was away in Ibiza, Spain. However, upon catching wind of the situation, the “Unavailable” singer took a completely unexpected approach. Rather than pursuing legal action or joining the criticism, Davido personally contacted the embattled streamer.
Davido instructed Davrel to visit Sarkin Mota Autos, a luxury car dealership located in Abuja, and select any vehicle of his choice.
The ₦70 Million Gesture
Following the superstar’s directions, Davrel visited the Abuja dealership and selected a 2025 Toyota Camry. Davido reportedly made the full payment for the sedan, which is valued between ₦68 million and ₦70 million.
An emotional video of the handover has since surfaced online, capturing the moment a thrilled Davrel received the keys to his new ride.

Davrel has since confirmed the sequence of events, publicly expressing his deep appreciation to Davido for the life-changing gift. His mother also shared her gratitude online, releasing a statement to thank the singer for showing such immense kindness to her son during a difficult moment.
