Deborah Mungai, Kenyan Miss Africa Britain, Pledges to Empower the Neglected Boy Child

Deborah Mungai, the newly crowned Miss Africa Britain, has vowed to dedicate her reign to uplifting Kenya’s neglected boy child. The 22-year-old made history in October as the first Kenyan to win the title since the pageant’s inception in 2011.

Speaking about her victory, Deborah admitted she never expected to win, especially since it was her first pageant. “I entered the competition to gain experience in fashion and modeling but ended up winning,” she shared.

Now two months into her reign, Deborah is preparing to launch her foundation, Good Inspired Generation, in January 2025. The initiative aims to channel resources from the UK to Kenya to support underprivileged boys. “Much has been done for the girl child, but the boy child has been overlooked. My foundation will address this gap by offering support and opportunities,” she explained.

With plans to set up an empowerment center in Kenya, Deborah is targeting at least 100 youth for training in business-oriented skills that will equip them for skilled employment. During a recent trip to Nairobi, she mapped out areas of need and began drafting her proposal to bring the vision to life.

Deborah’s efforts are bolstered by Miss Africa GB’s support, and she plans to lobby for funding and donations in the UK to make her goals a reality. Her reign promises to be transformative, as she focuses on leaving a lasting impact for the betterment of the boy child and Kenya’s future.
