Seventy-six students have graduated from the Swangz Creative Academy in Kampala, earning certificates in digital video editing, live broadcast, scriptwriting, film production, and more. The academy, established in 2022, is committed to equipping young creatives with practical, market-aligned skills to thrive in the arts and entertainment industry.
The graduates, comprising 65 boys and 11 girls, completed a three-month intensive program. Their certificates, accredited by the Directorate of Industrial Training under Uganda’s Ministry of Sports & Education, symbolize their readiness to pursue careers in fields such as audio production, cinematography, and photography.
The graduation ceremony, held at MOTIV on Old Port Bell Road, attracted industry leaders, parents, and creative arts enthusiasts. Among the graduates was Sophia Inshuti, who shared her transformative journey: “I joined as an aspiring photographer and leave as a confident videographer. The hands-on training and supportive staff have prepared me for the real world.”
Swangz Avenue’s Head of Production, Benon Mugumbya, urged the graduates to embrace resilience and continuous growth in their careers. “In the creative industry, rejection is inevitable. Winners are those who refuse to give up. Stay hungry for new skills and opportunities,” he advised.
Julius Kyazze, CEO of Swangz Avenue, emphasized the academy’s mission of turning graduates into job creators. “Over the past six to eight weeks, we’ve trained over 50 students in various creative disciplines. It’s exciting to see many of our graduates already securing jobs or being retained at Swangz Avenue. Our goal is to continue empowering young creatives to shape the future of this industry,” he said.
The Swangz Creative Academy has become a beacon of opportunity for aspiring creatives, equipping them with tools to succeed and fostering a new generation of professionals ready to transform Uganda’s creative arts landscape.
