Ghana’s National Youth Authority (NYA), led by its Chief Executive Officer, Osman Ayariga, has organised a breast cancer screening exercise to promote early detection and raise awareness about the disease among its staff and members of the surrounding community.
The exercise was held at the forecourt of the Authority on Thursday, October 22, 2026, with staff participating fully in the screening.
Community members also joined the exercise, extending the initiative’s reach beyond the institution and providing an opportunity for more people to access breast health checks.
The initiative forms part of efforts to encourage preventive healthcare and highlight the importance of regular screening in the early detection of breast cancer.
Early detection can improve treatment outcomes, making awareness creation and access to screening important components of the fight against the disease.
The participation of NYA staff and community members underscored the importance of collective action in promoting health and well-being.
By opening the exercise to members of the public, the Authority helped encourage greater awareness of breast cancer and the need for individuals to take proactive steps towards protecting their health.
The exercise also highlighted the role public institutions can play in supporting health education and preventive healthcare initiatives.
Through the screening, the NYA reaffirmed the importance of creating awareness about breast cancer and encouraging early checks as part of broader efforts to promote healthier communities.
