Playboi Carti has officially claimed his second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, as his highly anticipated project, MUSIC, debuts atop the chart dated March 29. The album opened with 298,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. for the week ending March 20, making it the biggest rap debut of 2025 and securing the largest streaming week for a rap album in nearly two years.
Following the success of Whole Lotta Red (2021), which also topped the charts, MUSIC becomes Carti’s third top-10 entry, alongside Die Lit (No. 3, 2018). The album’s 30-track edition generated an impressive 384 million on-demand streams, with 283,000 streaming units contributing to its total. It also claimed the No. 1 spot on the Top Streaming Albums chart.
With 14,500 traditional album sales and 500 track-equivalent album (TEA) units, MUSIC landed at No. 3 on Top Album Sales. The only album to post a bigger debut in 2025 so far is The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow, which opened with 490,000 units in February. Additionally, Carti’s album recorded the biggest streaming week for a rap album since Drake’s For All the Dogs amassed 514 million streams in October 2023.
With MUSIC dominating the charts, Playboi Carti continues to solidify his status as a streaming powerhouse and a defining force in modern rap.
