Ghana Vice President Congratulates Black Stars After 1-0 Win Over Panama at 2026 World Cup

The Vice President of Ghana, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has congratulated Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, following their 1- 0 victory over Panama in their opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Toronto.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, the senior government official praised the team’s performance and highlighted the dedication behind the achievement.

“Congratulations to the Black Stars on their victory over Panama in their opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Toronto,” she wrote.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said the result demonstrated the commitment and preparation required to represent Ghana at the highest level of international football.

“This victory reflects the hard work and preparation that go into representing Ghana on the world stage. It has inspired hope among Ghanaians everywhere,” she stated.

She also assured the team of the government’s backing as they continue their World Cup campaign.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Ghana, I assure the team of our support as they continue in the tournament. I urge the Black Stars to remain focused and united. The nation stands behind them and looks forward to more successes,” she said.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang concluded her message by encouraging the team to continue making the country proud.
