President John Dramani Mahama on Monday joined the leadership of Ghana’s ruling party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to officially rename the party’s national headquarters as the Jerry John Rawlings House, in honour of the party’s founder and former President of Ghana, the late Jerry John Rawlings.
Mahama also unveiled a bust of Mr. Rawlings as part of activities marking what would have been his 79th birthday.
Addressing the gathering, President Mahama reflected on Rawlings’ humility, revealing that the former President had consistently declined proposals to have national monuments named after him.

He called on Ghanaians to honour Rawlings’ enduring legacy by upholding the values of probity, accountability and selfless service to the nation.
