Ghana’s Volta Region Records 6 Deaths in Weekend Multiple Car Crashes

At least six persons were killed in separate car crashes in Ghana’s Volta Region over the weekend.

The deadly crashes occurred on Sunday, June 21, 2026.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) deployed emergency response teams, rescuing 34 victims.

Recording the first two set of accidents was the Todome stretch near Kpeve on the Peki-Kpeve Road. Rescue crews from the Peki Fire Station were called to the accidents scene around 12:53 GMT.

Another crash involved a MAN Diesel TGS truck with registration number GT 9993-18, travelling from Tema to Tamale, and a Toyota Camry with registration number GE 735-14, travelling from Nkwanta to Accra.

All five occupants of the vehicles made up of four males and one female had been rescued before the arrival of the rescue crew.

Both vehicles sustained partial damage.

The second crash involved a Metro Mass Transit bus with registration number AS 4984-09, travelling from Accra to Dambai with 28 passengers on board.
