A court in Kumasi, Ghana’s second biggest city,  has granted Ghanaian Actor, Lil Win a Ghc 50,000 bail as investigations continue into the deadly car accident which resulted in the death of a little boy.

Lil Win was arrested on Monday and sent to court over the accident

During his first appearance in court, the Kumawood actor  was granted the bail by the Asokore Mampong District Court in Kumasi after his arrest on Monday, June 3, 2024.

As Africa Publicity earlier reported, Lil Win was arrested in the early hours of today by officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Manhyia Divisional Command moments after he was discharged from the hospital.

His arrest is in connection with a recent accident involving a vehicle being driven by the actor which resulted in the death of a three-year-old boy.

The family of the three-year-old boy intensified calls for justice after the death of their relative, but police said delays in the arrest of Lil Win was due to his health condition.

Lil Win has been charged with Dangerous driving and negligently causing harm.

The prosecution told the court they were still investigating the matter and insisted the accused should avail himself wherever he was needed.

The prosecution also said the case was delayed due to the health condition of the accused.

Counsel for Lil Win, Margaret Adjei-Twum, however, informed the court that her client suffered injuries including internal bleeding and should be granted bail to go through treatment.

According to her, Lil Win was a popular person in Ghana and would not escape from the court as the case proceeds.

The lawyer claimed Lil Win was forced by the police to appear in court even though he was yet to recover fully.

The case was adjourned to June 27, 2024 for further hearing.

It would be recalled that Lil Win was recently involved in a ghastly car crash in Kumasi while he was on a media tour to promote his new movie titled, ‘A Country Called Ghana’. The accident claimed the live of a three-year-old boy named Nana Yaw. The deceased has since been buried but his family wants justice to be served.
