NPP-USA ELECTIONS: In-Person Voting – A Practical Way Forward as November 30 Election Deadline Approaches

As the November 30, 2026, deadline for completing outstanding NPP elections draws closer, concern is growing among members of the New Patriotic Party in the United States (NPP-USA). Members who have patiently waited for an opportunity to exercise their democratic rights are increasingly asking important questions: When will the elections take place? Who is responsible for organizing them? When will eligible voters be identified? And why has the committee responsible for supervising the NPP-USA elections not communicated any clear roadmap to members?

These are legitimate questions, and they deserve legitimate answers.

An election is not simply about choosing leaders or determining who occupies a particular position. It is about trust, participation, accountability, and the collective confidence of members in the democratic process. When an election is approaching and the people expected to participate are left without information, uncertainty naturally grows. Unfortunately, that is the situation many NPP-USA members are beginning to experience.

November 30 Is Not Just a Date. It Is a Deadline That Demands Action.

On October 29, 2026, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Justin Kodua, issued a directive requiring all outstanding elections to be completed by November 30, 2026.

That directive should have provided clarity and a sense of urgency for all outstanding electoral processes, including the NPP-USA elections.

However, with the deadline fast approaching, members are yet to receive meaningful communication from the committee reportedly selected to supervise the NPP-USA elections.

There has been no clear announcement of the election date, no published timetable, and no communication regarding the publication of the album of eligible voters.

This silence is troubling.

How can members adequately prepare for an election when they do not know when it will take place? How can candidates organize their campaigns, engage delegates, and communicate their visions when the electoral calendar remains unknown? How can members have confidence in a process when basic information about the process is not readily available?

The concern is not that members are demanding special treatment. They are simply asking for information, fairness, and the opportunity to participate in an election that belongs to them.

The Question of Electoral Independence Must Not Be Ignored

The controversy surrounding the NPP-USA elections did not begin today.

The election, originally expected to take place in July 2026, was postponed following disagreements over the proposed electronic voting system developed by NPP Ghana.

According to concerns raised by members, the system lacked sufficient independence and had not been tested in elections conducted in Ghana. These concerns contributed to the rejection of the proposed platform by NPP-USA members.

It is important to understand that rejecting a particular voting platform does not mean rejecting democracy, technology, or the desire to elect leaders. Rather, it reflects a desire to ensure that whatever electoral system is adopted commands the confidence of the people who will use it.

An election can only be credible when participants believe that the process is fair, transparent, independent, and free from undue influence.

Members should not be made to feel that their concerns are an obstacle to the electoral process. In a democratic organization, concerns should be heard, discussed, and addressed, not ignored.

Why Is NPP-USA Being Treated Differently?

Another issue that deserves attention is the reported approach used in establishing the committee responsible for supervising the NPP-USA elections.

The October 29 directive reportedly assigned individual officers to liaise with various constituencies and external branches to establish or coordinate electoral committees. However, in the case of NPP-USA, members have raised concerns that a committee was constituted directly by the General Secretary without the expected consultation with the NPP-USA executives.

This raises an important question: Why should NPP-USA members be denied the same level of consultation and participation expected in other branches and constituencies?

NPP-USA is an important part of the NPP family. Its members deserve the same respect, democratic consideration, and opportunity to participate in decisions affecting their branch.

The desire for a credible election should unite the party, not create unnecessary divisions.

The committee may have been given the responsibility of conducting the election, but that responsibility must come with accountability to the people whose democratic future it is expected to determine.

*In-Person Voting: A Practical Way Forward*

One of the strongest concerns expressed by members is the need to adopt an in-person voting system for the upcoming elections.

The proposed arrangement is straightforward: voting should take place at the various chapter levels, with results subsequently collated at the NPP-USA Branch level.

This approach offers members an opportunity to participate directly in the electoral process while allowing each chapter to organize its voting activities in an orderly and transparent manner.

The proposal is not intended to complicate the election. It is intended to build confidence.

Additionally, members who may be unable to attend physically should not automatically lose their opportunity to vote. A clearly regulated proxy voting arrangement should be considered, based on the principle of one member, one proxy.

Such an arrangement must have appropriate verification and accountability measures to prevent duplication, impersonation, or abuse.

The objective should be simple: every eligible member must have a fair opportunity to participate, and every legitimate vote must count.

*The Electoral Committee Must Stop the Silence and Communicate*

At this stage, the most urgent responsibility of the electoral committee is communication.

Members are not asking for miracles. They are asking for a timetable.

The committee should immediately:

1. Announce the official election date . Members deserve sufficient notice to prepare and participate meaningfully.

2. *Publish the album of eligible voters* . Every eligible member should have an opportunity to verify their inclusion and raise any concerns before election day.

3. Clarify the voting arrangements . The committee should communicate whether voting will take place in person at chapter levels, how results will be collated at the Branch level, and how proxy voting will be regulated.

4. *Provide a comprehensive electoral roadmap* . Members and candidates should know the important dates, procedures, eligibility requirements, and responsibilities of the committee.

5. Engage NPP-USA stakeholders . Consultation with chapter leaders, executives, candidates, and members will help build confidence and prevent avoidable disagreements.

Most importantly, the committee should not wait until the final days before November 30 to rush through an election process that requires proper planning and preparation.

A credible election cannot be organized through last-minute announcements, hurried arrangements, and inadequate communication.

Democracy Must Not Be Rushed at the Expense of Credibility

There is a difference between completing an election before a deadline and conducting an election that members can genuinely trust.

While the November 30 deadline is important, meeting that deadline should not become an excuse to compromise transparency, fairness, and proper electoral procedures.

An election conducted in haste, without adequate communication or voter verification, risks creating more problems than it solves.

The committee must therefore demonstrate urgency, but that urgency must be accompanied by responsibility.

The credibility of the NPP-USA electoral process will not be measured simply by whether ballots are counted before November 30. It will be measured by whether members believe they were treated fairly, whether eligible voters had the opportunity to participate, and whether the final outcome reflects the genuine will of the membership.

A Message to NPP-USA Leadership and Members

To the General Secretary and the committee entrusted with supervising the NPP-USA elections, the message from members is clear: please communicate, engage, and act.

Silence creates suspicion, even where none may be intended. Uncertainty creates frustration, even among members who genuinely want the party to succeed.

The best way to address these concerns is not through silence or assumptions, but through open communication and transparent action.

To NPP-USA members, this is also a moment to remain engaged, united, and committed to democratic principles. We may support different candidates, belong to different chapters, or hold different opinions about the best direction for our organization. However, we all share one important interest: a credible election that strengthens rather than weakens NPP-USA.

Our political differences should never be greater than our commitment to the institution we have collectively built.

NPP-USA Deserves Better

The November 30, 2026, deadline is fast approaching. Every passing day without an official communication makes the situation more difficult and increases the anxiety among members.

NPP-USA members deserve answers. They deserve a clear election timetable, a transparent voter album, a fair voting arrangement, and an electoral committee that listens to their concerns.

This is not about any individual candidate winning or losing. It is about protecting the integrity of our organization and ensuring that whoever emerges as the next leader does so through a process that commands the confidence and respect of the membership.

Let us not allow administrative silence, poor communication, or disagreements over voting methods to undermine the democratic aspirations of our members.

NPP-USA deserves a free, fair, transparent, and credible election. And the time to demonstrate that commitment is now—not when the November 30 deadline is already upon us.

The membership is watching. The candidates are waiting. The chapters deserve clarity. The committee must act.
