Gospel sensation Judikay (Judith Kanayo-Opara) has shared a deeply personal and emotional account of her recent struggle with pregnancy loss. In a video posted on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, the “Capable God” singer revealed that she experienced a miscarriage in February 2025, marking the sixth time she has endured such a heartbreak.
The February 2025 Ordeal
Judikay, who is already a mother of one, explained that she was over three months into her pregnancy when she began experiencing physical distress. What started as routine discomfort quickly escalated into a medical emergency.
“In February 2025, I felt a pain that almost broke me,” she recounted. “One day, while going about my routine, I started experiencing cramps. At first, I thought, ‘oh, it’s just normal.’ But then I noticed a little blood, and I said, ‘oh, spotting.’”
The situation worsened as the bleeding became heavy and persistent. Judikay noted that she recognized the signs immediately: “I was devastated because I knew immediately what it meant.”
Medical Intervention: Missed Miscarriage
Upon being rushed to the hospital, medical professionals confirmed that she had suffered a “missed miscarriage”—a condition where the fetus has passed away but the body has not yet expelled the pregnancy tissue. To prevent further complications, doctors performed a Dilation and Curettage (D&C) procedure.
Emotional and Spiritual Struggle
Beyond the physical trauma, Judikay spoke candidly about the spiritual and mental toll the loss took on her. She described a period of profound grief, particularly during the isolation of the nighttime.
“In the silence of the night, I felt a pain I couldn’t put into words,” she admitted. “I would wake up crying, saying, ‘Jesus, where are you?’”
Her vulnerability in questioning her faith during such a dark moment has resonated with many of her followers, as she navigated the gap between her public role as a worship leader and her private reality as a grieving mother.
Family and Support
Judikay is married to Pastor Anselem Opara. The couple has one child together and has remained a visible “power couple” within the Nigerian gospel community. Despite the series of losses, the singer’s decision to share her story now—over a year after the incident—is seen by many as an effort to provide comfort and representation to other women facing similar fertility and pregnancy challenges.
