PSquare’s Peter Okoye Claps Back at Waitress Over ‘Ridiculous’ $60 Tip

Afrobeats star Peter Okoye (Mr. P) of the group PSquare recently ignited a social media debate after a waitress from a US restaurant reached out to his direct messages (DM) to complain about the tip he left behind.

The controversy arose when the waitress claimed that Peter had spent $1,000 on food but left a mere $60 as a tip, which she labeled as “ridiculous.” She went as far as to suggest the low tip was the reason “people hate y’all.”

Peter Okoye’s Response

Not one to back down from an online confrontation, Peter Okoye fired back immediately, sharing a screenshot of her private message on his Instagram story with a fiery caption:

“Sometimes eh! Dis oyinbos na dem no get sense! Una dey craze for dis Yankee aswear. For my own money again!

The singer’s public post instantly sent social media buzzing. Many fans rallied behind the singer, insisting that tipping should remain a choice and not a mandatory obligation, regardless of US service culture standards. Others, however, debated whether a $60 tip was indeed too small for the cost of the meal in the United States.

Regardless of the public opinion, Peter Okoye’s message was definitive: he will not be challenged on how he chooses to spend his money.
