JALINGO, TARABA STATE — Comfort Jimtop Oliver, a 100-level Mass Communication student at Taraba State University, was discovered dead at her boyfriend’s residence in Jalingo on Friday, September 12, 2025. Her body was found inside a room in the Bakasi area, near the university campus.
Hailing from the Takum Local Government Area and belonging to the Kuteb ethnic group, Comfort reportedly died under circumstances that are currently being investigated by the police. A senior police officer confirmed that authorities have begun a full inquiry to determine the cause of death.
According to the officer, when police arrived at the scene, the house—which contains more than 15 tenants—was empty. The deceased’s boyfriend, who is believed to be the occupant of the room, was missing and is now considered at large. The officer also revealed that several empty bottles of hard drinks were found near the bed.
“By the time the matter was reported to our station located at the university gate, nobody was found in the house,” the officer stated. “The owner of the room, believed to be the deceased’s boyfriend, was also missing and is currently at large.”
Police officials have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
