On July 19, 2025, Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa vehemently refuted claims by a content creator who falsely listed her as HIV positive. In an impassioned Instagram video, Amusa declared, “I am not HIV Positive,” and promised to pursue legal action against the perpetrator, stating they would serve as a “scapegoat” to discourage others from spreading misinformation.
This marks the second time Amusa has publicly addressed her HIV status. In 2019, she shared a video of herself undergoing an HIV test, which returned negative, to promote awareness and encourage her fans to know their status. Expressing distress over the psychological toll of such false allegations on herself and her loved ones, Amusa questioned the motives of content creators who disseminate unverified claims, highlighting the need for accountability in media.
