US President, Donald Trump, announced on Monday that Israel and Iran are both seeking an immediate ceasefire.
He also says negotiations on a final peace agreement are underway.
According to Trump, “Both sides, Israel and Iran, are looking to do an immediate CEASEFIRE.”
In his Truth Social post, Trump says the US blockade would remain in effect until a final deal is reached, urging that developments “should move quickly.”
Israel launched retaliatory airstrikes against Iran, with explosions reported across several Iranian cities.
Iran had launched unprovoked ballistic missiles toward northern Israel on Sunday night.
Hours later, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that Israeli warplanes struck targets in western and central Iran.
Explosions were reportedly heard across multiple Iranian cities, including Tehran, Tabriz and Isfahan.
The latest strikes risk deepening tensions in the already volatile region as US President Donald Trump tries to negotiate a nuclear deal with Iran.
