A veteran Ghanaian actor, Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, widely known as Koo Fori, has been arrested by police for alleged $50,000 fraud.
A viral video on social media in Ghana on Friday, May 9, 2025 showed the movie star in handcuffs.
Reports say he was arrested for allegedly defrauding a Ghanaian businessman based in the United States of $50,000.
Koo Fori is renowned for his comic portrayal of a drunkard in the popular television series, Efiewura.
Koo Fori currently serves as the General Manager of Accra-based television station Bryt TV.
In the viral video, he appeared in handcuffs while being escorted by police officers to the premises of the Accra Central Police Command.
Koo Fori is believed to have received the $50,000 from the California-based Ghanaian businessman under the pretext of a lucrative investment opportunity but allegedly failed to deliver on the agreement and subsequently went into hiding.
