Over 60 Killed in Devastating Attacks on Sudan’s Al-Fashir as Civilian Toll Mounts, Activists Report

At least 60 people have been killed in a series of attacks on the Sudanese city of Al-Fashir, according to local activist groups. The violence has intensified an already dire humanitarian crisis, with hunger, disease, and relentless bombardments devastating the besieged city.

Activists from the Al-Fashir Resistance Committees reported that drone and artillery strikes have repeatedly targeted displacement shelters, mosques, hospitals, and clinics. “Bodies remain under the rubble, and others were burned alive inside the shelter caravans — children, women, and the elderly killed in cold blood,” the group said in a statement released Saturday.

In a follow-up statement, the committee said one shelter was struck twice by drones and eight times by artillery shells. The group estimated that hundreds of civilians have been killed in recent days.

Residents told Reuters they have been forced to dig bunkers in their homes and neighborhoods to protect themselves from the constant shelling.

The Al-Fashir Resistance Committees added that the city is losing an average of 30 people every day due to violence, hunger, and disease — underscoring the growing civilian suffering as the conflict continues to escalate.
