President John Dramani Mahama has called for stronger accountability and performance across Ghana’s State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), urging Governing Boards and Chief Executive Officers to uphold clear distinctions between governance and executive management.
Speaking at the SIGA Governing Boards and CEOs Conference, President Mahama stressed that Board Chairpersons must not assume full-time executive roles within the entities they oversee.
He noted that the Government’s approach to remuneration goes beyond controlling salaries, focusing instead on creating the right incentives for performance, strengthening accountability and ensuring value for money.
