Apple Music has unveiled this month’s Africa Now DJ Mix, featuring none other than Nigerian DJ and music curator, DJ Phil. Known for his seamless fusion of Amapiano, Afrobeats, and Afro House, DJ Phil continues to push the boundaries of African music with this latest release.
“I wanted to highlight the sounds shaping Africa’s music scene right now,” DJ Phil tells Apple Music. “You’ll hear heavyweights pushing boundaries alongside emerging artists bringing fresh energy.” The mix features industry giants like Asake, Kabza De Small, Wizkid, and Davido—artists who embody the global evolution of African music.
Rising from Lagos, DJ Phil first made waves with his breakout Amapiano Essentials mix, which cemented his reputation as a tastemaker. He also curates +234 on the Beach, an exclusive music event that brings together creatives, culture shapers, and music lovers for unforgettable experiences.
“This mix is my love letter to African music—a celebration of the sounds that make us move, feel, and connect,” he shares.
Beyond the beats, DJ Phil acknowledges the rapid transformation of African music. “With streaming and social media, the world isn’t just listening; they’re participating in the culture,” he explains. “African artists are blending genres, infusing traditional sounds with cutting-edge production, and creating a movement that transcends borders.”
As Africa Now continues to spotlight Africa’s diverse and evolving soundscape, DJ Phil stands at the forefront of this sonic revolution.
