Cyril Ramaphosa has been sworn in for the second time as President of South Africa.

His inauguration ceremony took place earlier on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the Southern Lawns of the Union Buildings in Tshwane.

Several Heads of State, Government officials and royalty attended the swearing in ceremony.

Taking his inauguration oath, Mr. Ramaphosa noted: “I swear I will be faithful to the Republic of South Africa. I will obey, observe and uphold the constitution and all other laws of the republic.”

Justice Raymond Zondo administered the oath of office, with a band playing South Africa’s national anthem followed by a 21-gun and fly-past by army helicopter after Mr. Ramaphosa took the oath.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Ramaphosa noted that individuals who seek to undermine democracy and institutions in South Africa will not succeed.

According to him, now is the time for South Africa to move forward.

He stated that “Together, we will do more and better. Now is the time to assemble all our capabilities and to direct all our energies to answer the call of the people of South Africa.”

“We dare not linger, we dare not rest, until we have created jobs for those who need them; until there is enough food on every table.”
