A Ghanaian pilot working with British Airways, Kwame Yeboah, has been jailed for eight years and four months after being found guilty of driving 200 miles in his Mercedes to rape a 12-year-old girl whom he had groomed on social media.
Local UK media outlets first reported about Yeboah’s jailing, describing his act in its report as “despicable”.
Yeboah was jailed on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.
He is said to have met the little girl on video chatroom Omegle before exchanging a series of explicit messages and calls with her via Instagram.
Prosecutors said Yeboah emotionally blackmailed the girl before persuading her to meet up, driving to Merseyside from his home in Reading, Berkshire.
Yeboah, prosecutors stated, then checked into a hotel before raping the little girl in his car twice.
The 30-year-old Ghanaian admitted three counts of rape of a child under 13 and assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
At his sentencing, Yeboah appeared via video link from prison. He was jailed for eight years and four months and given an additional one year on license.
After news of his rape case broke, Yeboah was sacked by British Airways.
Yeboah’s offences were exposed after the girl’s mother learnt from one of her young friends that she had been speaking to a man online and later had sex with him and contacted police, according to the Daily Mail.
The report, citing prosecutor Louise McCloskey, says when subsequently spoken to by police, the girl was ‘initially dismissive’.
But she went on to tell her mother in the presence of officers: “I don’t know why you had to tell the police. It’s not like I’ve been raped or anything.”
After being told that she could have needed emergency contraception if any sexual activity had taken place, she then said “No, I’m not getting it. I’ll keep the baby.”
The report says she later confirmed to detectives that she and Yeboah met on Omegle about three months before they had sex, saying he followed her on Instagram where they exchanged sexualised pictures and messages and had further video calls with one another.
