Afropop sensation Yemi Alade has addressed the long-standing question of why a collaboration with fellow superstar Tiwa Savage has not yet happened, stating that she chooses to avoid the potential drama stirred up by fans and the media.
Speaking on the Jude Chinwo podcast, Yemi Alade emphasized her strong track record of working with other female artists, listing names like Omawumi, Waje, and Seyi Shay. However, she explained that teaming up with Tiwa Savage is a partnership she prefers to approach cautiously.
“The fan favorite is the one you mentioned,” she said, referring to Tiwa. “I’d rather just stay clear; I don’t want problems in my life.”
The Role of Fans and Media
Alade clarified that there is no personal conflict between the two music queens. She pointed out that the issue lies in how external factors—specifically fans and media outlets—tend to overcomplicate the situation.
“No problem at all. It’s just that most times fans and media stir waters that are supposed to be calm. I’m not trying to make something out of nothing because there really isn’t any problem.”
Her comments highlight the difficult position female artists often find themselves in, where the public narrative frequently pits them against each other, forcing Yemi Alade to prioritize her emotional clarity and personal peace over fulfilling a highly anticipated musical fantasy.
