Victoria Beckham: I Removed My Nineties Boob Job to Be Taken Seriously in Fashion

In her new Netflix documentary, Victoria, fashion designer Victoria Beckham, 51, revealed that she had her breast implants removed shortly after her infamous 2006 Baden-Baden WAG era in a strategic move to be taken seriously within the fashion world.

Beckham, who was known as the “queen of the WAGs” during the 2006 World Cup, reflected on that period with a mix of amusement and reflection: “It was fun! I had big boobs, I had big hair.”

The Quest for Credibility

The desire for credibility in the fashion industry—a field she had not previously worked in—was the driving force behind the decision to reverse the enhancement surgery.

The designer credited her close friend and fellow designer Roland Mouret for influencing her decision. Mouret features in the documentary and, according to Beckham, encouraged her to embrace her natural self.

“It came from a need to be taken more seriously and me not knowing who I was,” Victoria told The Sun. “And so I think it was Roland that encouraged me to just be me — not feel I had to be that person. To just tone it down.”

She added that once the implants were removed, it allowed her to “show myself through my collections.”

Timeline of Enhancements

Victoria previously denied having plastic surgery but later came clean in 2017. Her biographer, Andrew Morton, detailed the timeline of the cosmetic procedures:

  • 1999 (Post-Brooklyn’s Birth): Victoria reportedly had her initial enhancement surgery, taking her from a natural 34A cup size. This operation cost an estimated £10,000.
  • 2001: She reportedly underwent a second operation to enlarge her bust further, to a size 34DD.
  • 2006 (Baden-Baden Era): This was the height of the large-implant era she now describes as regrettable.
  • 2009: She had the implants reduced, telling US Vogue, “Torpedo bazookas, gone!”

In 2014, she spoke candidly about the experience, confessing, “I don’t have them any more. I think I may have purchased them.”
