Tiktok Content Creators In Ghana Likely To Earn Direct Payments Soon As GCB Bank Prepresents Proposal

Creators of contents on Tiktok in Ghana are likely to soon start receiving direct payments from the social media giant soon.

This follows a proposal by the GCB Bank PLC to act as a payment gateway for Tiktok in Ghana.

A delegation from GCB, led by Chief of Staff, Abraham Ferguson, presented the proposal to Ghana’s Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George.

Mr. George welcomed the proposal, saying it is “a positive step for Ghana’s creative and digital sectors.”

The proposal, if approved, could positively impact the finances of tiktokers in the country.

The plan is to eliminate middlemen and reduce commissions, allowing creators in the country to take home bigher shares of their revenue from Tiktok gifts and monetization streams.

Under the plan, GCB Bank would use its platform to facilitate direct transfers into bank accounts, mobile money wallets, and Visa or MasterCard debit cards of tiktokers.

Technical teams from GCB Bank and Tiktok are expected to start work on integrating their systems should the proposal be approved.
