Following the appointment of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Minister of Energy, as running mate to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the December 7, 2024 Presidential election, questions are now being asked about who will be appointed as Ghana’s next minister of Energy.
The question on the lips of many within government and the general public is, “who will take over from NAPO as the Minister of Energy?”.
The questions come amid announcement that President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed Herbert Krapa as Minister of State at the Energy Ministry.
Many are those who are eagerly waiting to see who actually replaces Dr. Opoku Prempeh also known NAPO, as the new Energy Minister of Ghana.
With the 2024 Presidential campaign gradually in full swing, NAPO will certainly not have enough time to serve as Energy Minister as he will obviously be touring Ghana to campaign for his party, the ruling New Patriotic Party. This means a new substantive Minister would have to be appointed, someone who can focus greatly on the work of the Energy Ministry.
