The holiday season has officially kicked off, with Mariah Carey’s iconic 1994 hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You” reclaiming its spot atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This marks the song’s sixth consecutive annual return to the top, with an impressive 38 million streams and 24 million radio airplay audience impressions, according to Luminate.
Carey’s modern classic dethroned Kendrick Lamar’s “Squabble Up,” which held the top spot on the Dec. 7-dated chart. Lamar still dominates the chart with multiple entries, including “TV Off” (No. 4), “Luther” (No. 6), and “Squabble Up” (No. 7).
Other holiday favorites filling the top 10 spots include:
1. Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” (No. 2) with nearly 36 million streams and 20 million airplay impressions
2. Wham!’s “Last Christmas” (No. 3)
3. Bobby Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock” (No. 5)
4. Burl Ives’ “A Holly Jolly Christmas” (No. 10)
On the Billboard 200 chart, Michael Bublé’s “Christmas” (No. 7) and Bing Crosby’s “Ultimate Christmas” (No. 9) are the only festive albums making an appearance, with Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department” holding strong at No. 1 for a 16th non-consecutive week.
