Lagos, Nigeria – March 2025 – Streaming giant Showmax is set to debut two groundbreaking series, “Between Worlds” and “Kabiyesi,” both deeply rooted in Yoruba mythology and palace politics.
Created and executive-produced by Emmanuel Uduma, Between Worlds follows Olamide, a small-time fraudster whose life takes an unexpected turn when he is transported to Ilu Aarin, an ancient kingdom ruled by deities. As he struggles to survive in this mystical world, a present-day Lagos detective begins investigating a case that strangely connects to Olamide’s fate.
The series blends fantasy, thriller, and social commentary, with Femi Branch delivering a commanding performance as Oba Ajitoni, ruler of Ilu Aarin, while Soibifaa Dokubo’s portrayal of Esu, the Yoruba deity of Crossroads, adds a layer of mysticism. Beyond its supernatural elements, Between Worlds explores morality, destiny, and power, reflecting the struggles of young Nigerians trying to navigate an unfair system.
With Kabiyesi also set to delve into the intricacies of palace politics, both series promise to offer viewers rich storytelling, cultural depth, and thrilling narratives. As anticipation builds, Showmax continues to champion African mythology and heritage, bringing compelling local stories to a global audience.
