Showmax Premieres Salaam Dar, a Powerful Dance-Drama Film This Valentine’s Day

This Valentine’s Day, Showmax is set to captivate audiences with the release of Salaam Dar, a 93-minute dance, music, and drama film directed and produced by acclaimed Tanzanian filmmaker Adam Juma.

Set in the vibrant city of Dar es Salaam, the film tells a compelling story of ambition, resilience, and self-expression through the transformative power of dance and music. It follows Salima (played by Winfida Joseph), a young woman battling societal and family pressures while secretly chasing her dreams. Sent to live with her strict aunt Adela (Susan Pepe), Salima forms an unlikely partnership with B9 (Fadhili Mtiningu), a once-famous musician struggling with his own past, as they prepare for a life-changing dance competition.

Juma hopes Salaam Dar will inspire African youth who have been discouraged from following their dreams. “I believe this film will highlight the fact that we must all pursue our dreams, sometimes at any cost,” he says.

With Lightness William and Vinod Mishra also starring, Salaam Dar delivers an emotional and uplifting cinematic experience, encouraging viewers to push past obstacles and fight for what they love.

Stream Salaam Dar exclusively on Showmax starting Friday, 14 February 2025. Enhance your entertainment experience by adding Showmax to your DStv subscription at a discounted rate via the MyDStv App or DStv website.
