After bagging several nominations at the upcoming BET Awards, South Africa’s Grammy-winning singing sensation Tyla is in line to take home even more awards after being nominated in three categories at this year’s Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.
The Water hitmaker has been nominated in the Favourite Viral Song, Favourite Breakout Artist and Favourite Global Music Star categories and in the Best International Act, Best New Artist, Best Female R&B/Pop Artist and Viewers Choice at the BET Awards.
After receiving four nominations each, Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, and Olivia Rodrigo are also in line to take home multiple Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. At the same time, pop singer Taylor Swift led the pack with six.
DJ Zinhle and murdered rapper AKA’s daughter Kairo Forbes and musical trio Biko’s Manna are also expected to fly the national flag high following their nominations in the Favourite Kidfluencer categories.
The awards are scheduled for 14 July in Los Angeles.
Since the beginning of the year, the 22-year-old has been nominated for and received several prestigious awards, including a Grammy, for the success of her smash hit, Water. Its success has also seen her make history and break records by, among others, landing her in the Billboard Hot 100 – a feat last achieved by Hugh Masekela 55 years ago.
