Police in Nigeria’s Nasarawa State have arrested a 30-year-old man, Musbawu Amodu, for allegedly beating his 20-year-old wife to death.
According to the police, the deadly domestic violence incident took place in the Angwan Yahaya area of Agyaragu, Obi Local Government Area.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Ramhan Nansel, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday night, July 12, 2026 says Amodu confessed to committing the act out of anger after the deceased allegedly refused to prepare food.
According to the statement, the arrest followed a complaint lodged at the Agyaragu Police Division alleging that the suspect had assaulted his wife, resulting in her death.
The suspect told police that an argument ensued, which escalated into a physical altercation that ultimately resulted in her death.
The tragic incident has left behind two children, a male and a female, from their six-year old marriage.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, strongly condemned all forms of domestic violence, describing the incident as tragic and avoidable.
