A shocking discovery was made at Mumbai International Airport’s T2 terminal when cleaning staff found a newborn baby boy dead in a rubbish bin in a bathroom near boarding gates 43 and 44. The incident occurred late Tuesday night, prompting a police investigation.

Police rushed to the scene and took the baby to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. The body was later transported to Cooper Hospital in Vile Parle for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage for clues and working with airlines to obtain passenger lists. Airlines have varying policies regarding pregnant passengers, but most prohibit travel after 36 weeks of pregnancy. Pregnant passengers are typically required to provide a medical clearance letter from their physician.

An airline official suggested that the perpetrator might be a staff member rather than a passenger, given the location of the discovery near a boarding area. The police investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to identify those responsible for abandoning the newborn baby.
