Kevin De Bruyne reveals why he doesn’t want to be Man City’s first captain

Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne in his latest interview has opened up on his decision not to be the first choice captain for the Premier League side

Despite his leadership on the field and his position as captain of the Belgian national team, Kevin De Bruyne recently disclosed that he does not aspire to be the permanent captain of Manchester City.

De Bruyne feels that accepting the official position of captain would be a diversion and would rather concentrate on his individual exploits.

According to The Athletic, the 33-year-old midfielder stated that he “would rather focus on playing than the extra responsibilities”.

After being caught on camera telling Belgium’s sporting director Franky Vercautern “I quit” following a defeat to France at the UEFA Nations League, De Bruyne had said in a candid interview: “The standard is the top level and if you are not good enough you have to give everything, and some are not doing that.”
