Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has announced that the passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open in line with the ceasefire in Lebanon.
He made this known on Friday, April 17, 2026.
Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz in March this year after the US and Israel launched war on the country, killing the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on February 28.
But Araghchi says “In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of the ceasefire, on the coordinated route as already announced by Ports and Maritime Organization of the Islamic Rep. of Iran.”
