Anticipation runs high among fans for NLA’s Akuapem Odwira Community Draw

Undoubtedly, one of the most patronized events at this time of the year in Ghana is the Akuapem Odwira Festival. Sons and daughters of Okuapeman from across the nation, the diaspora, and general revellers mark it on their calendars to celebrate it in grand style.

The streets of Akropong are usually jam-packed with hundreds of people who throng the town, including corporate organizations, vendors, and artists who join in the festive activities.

One of the highlights of this year’s celebration is the money many revellers stand a chance to make on Saturday, 12th October 2024, when the National Lottery Authority (NLA) sets the stage for a Live Draw of its most patronized and popular game of the week, the National Weekly Lotto.

The National Weekly Lotto Draw is set to take place at 7:15 P.M. at the forecourt of the Okuapehene’s palace. Ace actor and comedian Akwasi Boadi Akrobeto, Comedian Kalybos, actress Jessica Williams, and NLA Presenter Beryl Adom will all be on hand to give patrons an exciting time while they make money.

A massive crowd is expected to throng the forecourt of Okuapehene’s Palace to observe the Draw, which will also be telecast live on United Television.

The NLA’s decision to bring back its Community Draw to Odwira is a testament to its success last year. The electrifying experience and the demand from fans have led to the return of this exciting event.

The NLA is committed to maintaining the integrity and quality of its draws, as demonstrated by the successful use of its ultra-modern new Draw machines, heavily guarded by a combined security personnel of military and police, from the Authority’s Brennan Hall.
According to the Director-General, Mr Samuel Awuku, “Taking the Draw to the communities to give them a first-hand experience and appreciation of the Draw process, from start to finish, is one medium of sensitizing the public about the integrity of the NLA Draw.

This dispels the falsehood about the manipulation in the Draw process and protects the player from falling prey to scammers who promise the unsuspecting public leaked winning numbers”.

Prior to the Draw, the Director-General, Mr. Samuel Awuku, together with a team from the Good Causes Foundation, the organization’s corporate social responsibility arm under its Arts and Culture Pillar, presented some crates of drinks, cartons of water, and a cash sum to the Okuapehene, HRM, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, and the community in support of the festival and officially informed him of NLA’s Community Draw.

NLA has so far held Community Draws in Obomeng-Kwaku during the Easter festivities, in Cape Coast during the Fetu Afahye, in Anlo during the Hogbetsotso Za, at the West Hills Mall in partnership with the Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited, in the Western Region during the Anchors Festival and in Nsawam Adoagyiri.

NLA is expecting a good show at the forecourt of the Okuapehene’s Palace and is urging fans to play their games ahead of time to win big.
