Anora Sweeps 2025 Oscars with Five Wins, Including Best Picture

The 97th Academy Awards, hosted by Conan O’Brien, took place on Sunday night, with “Anora” emerging as the top winner. The film, directed by Sean Baker, scooped up five awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Film Editing, and Best Actress for Mikey Madison.

In addition to “Anora”‘s impressive haul, other notable winners included Adrien Brody, who took home the Best Actor award for his role in “The Brutalist”, and Zoe Saldaña, who became the first American of Dominican origin to accept an Academy Award, winning Best Supporting Actress for her performance in “Emilia Pérez”.

Other films that won multiple awards included “The Brutalist”, which earned Best Cinematography and Best Original Score, “Dune: Part Two”, which won Best Sound and Best Visual Effects, and “Emilia Pérez”, which also landed the Best Original Song Oscar for “El Mal”.

The ceremony, which aired live on ABC and Hulu, featured a range of performances and tributes, including a special appearance by the Los Angeles Master Chorale, a tribute to the music of the James Bond films, and a memorial segment honoring industry legends, including Quincy Jones and Gene Hackman.
