Ghana’s Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has ordered an investigation into allegations that some officers of the Ghana Police Service illegally withdrew Ghc 400,000 from a mobile money agent’s money account.
The alleged unauthorized withdrawal is said to have happened at Kibi in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
In a statement on social media, the Ghana Police Service said “The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has directed the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) to conduct investigation into allegations in a viral video concerning the unauthorised withdrawal of an amount of GH₵400,000 from a mobile money account of a mobile money agent by some personnel at Kibi.”
According to the statement, “The victim has since been contacted and is assisting the investigation.”
It says “We assure the public that the outcome of the investigation will be duly communicated.”
