ECOWAS says its new headquarter complex in Abuja, Nigeria, is nearing completion.
According to ECOWAS, the complex will house its Commission, Parliament and Court of Justice.
It says the complex will be operational in March 2026.
On Thursday, January 29, 2026, a delegation from the ECOWAS Commission management led by its President, Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, toured the building.

Built on a 7-hectare site along the road to Abuja Airport, the building is currently 96% complete, ECOWAS said in a statement on Friday, January 30, 2026.
The regional bloc added that “The remaining 4% involves general restoration work in the buildings (already underway), as well as defect rectification, testing and commissioning (pending).
According to the statement, “Known as the ‘Eye of West Africa’, the New ECOWAS Headquarter Complex is fully funded and constructed by the People’s Republic of China through the China International Development Cooperation Agency (China Aid).
