The government of Ghana has announced that a state funeral will be held for the country’s former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, on Friday, November 28, 2025.
According to the government, the funeral will be held at the Independence Square in Accra.
The funeral, according to a statement issued on Thursday, November 6, 2025 by the Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, will take place under the auspices of the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama.
The statement indicated that the state funeral would celebrate her lifelong dedication to public service and gender advocacy.
Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings died at the Ridge Hospital in Accra on Thursday, October 23, 2025. She was aged 76. Nana Konadu, the founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement, was married to late former President Jerry John Rawlings.
