Air France has temporarily suspended its flights between Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport and Madagascar’s capital, Antananarivo, citing growing security concerns in the country.
In an emailed statement on Sunday, the airline said the suspension would remain in effect from October 11 to October 13, adding that it was “closely monitoring the situation in real time” alongside local and international authorities. The airline noted that the decision to resume flights would be based on a “daily assessment of the security conditions.”
Air France confirmed that affected passengers would be informed and provided with options to rebook or receive refunds.
The suspension follows reports from Madagascar’s presidency on Sunday of “an attempted illegal and forcible seizure of power,” after sections of the military joined a youth-led protest movement that began in late September. The government did not provide further details on the developing situation.
