A Colombian Presidential candidate, Miguel Uribe, has been shot in Bogota, the capital of Colombia.

 

The Colombian national police announced the shooting incident. Mr. Uribe, police say, was shot at an event.

 

Mayor of Bogota, Carlos Galàn, reportedly says Uribe was receiving emergency medical care after being shot.

 

The shooting incident, according to the mayor, took place in the Fontibon District on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

 

Mr. Galàn says the “entire hospital network” of Bogota was on alert in case Mr. Uribe needed to be transferred.

 

According to the mayor, the alleged shooter had been arrested.

 

Meanwhile, Colombian President, Gustavo Petro in a tweet, expressed his solidarity with the family of Uribe who is a senator.

 

The President says “I don’t know how to ease your pain. It is the pain of a mother lost, and of a wounded homeland.”
