Charterhouse Explains Red Carpet Delay at 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards

Ghana’s biggest night in music, the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), dazzled with memorable performances and high-end fashion — but it was the lengthy red carpet session that had fans buzzing on social media.

Now, Charterhouse’s Head of Communications and Public Events, Robert Klah, has addressed the issue, shedding light on the real reason for the delay.

Speaking in an interview with Hitz FM, Klah revealed that although the production team was ready to begin the main show on time, they had to hold off because several key individuals had not yet arrived at the venue.

“Technically, we were all ready, everything. We were waiting to begin,” he said. “At the time when we wanted to start the main show, we were still waiting. Because at the end of the day, you don’t want to announce the winner of an award and the presenter is not there, or even worse, the winner is not there. Or you’re ready to begin and your opening act is not there.”

He explained that live shows of such scale require precise backstage coordination, and every performance and presentation must be timed perfectly — something that becomes difficult when key participants are absent or unprepared.

“You want to have like two or three acts ready, so when you finish with one, the next is ready to go. All the necessary preparations must be in place,” Klah added.

To manage the delay without stalling the atmosphere, organizers extended the red carpet session, allowing more time for arrivals and backstage setups. The awards show, originally scheduled to begin around 9:15 PM, eventually started at 10 PM.

“We had to prolong the red carpet to accommodate a number of people,” Klah noted. “At the end of the day, it drags.”

Despite the slow start, the 2025 TGMAs went on to deliver a successful show, proving once again why it remains the country’s most anticipated music event — even if the red carpet stole a bit more of the spotlight this year.
