A 27-year-old Ghanaian man named Mohammed Rafiu, has been jailed for stealing a church’s musical instruments.
Rafiu was found guilty of stealing the instruments after breaking into the church unlawfully in Hohoe in the Volta Region of Ghana, the Ghana Police Service said in a statement on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
According to the statement, “on 5th June, 2026 the accused was observed near the Faith International Ministry Church carrying a sack containing various items rushing to hail a car.”
It said the “witnesses suspected his action and approached to check the content in the sack. The following items were found:
One amplifier, one equalizer, one mixer and cross-over machine all belonging to the church.”
The statement noted that the accused was arrested and brought to the Hohoe Police District where he admitted to police to the charges leveled against him.
It added on Monday, 8th June, 2026, the accused was put before the Hohoe circuit Court where he pleaded guilty on two counts and was convicted and sentenced to three years for unlawful entry and four years of stealing, both sentences are to run concurrently.
