Hundreds of students of Nigeria’s Taraba State College of Nursing Science, Jalingo, staged a peaceful protest following an overnight attack on a female hostel located outside the institution’s premises.
The attackers, described as hoodlums, allegedly broke into the hostel and raped a female student before inflicting injuries on her, including cutting off one of her fingers.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of September 11, 2026, when the assailants invaded the hostel and allegedly dispossessed students of their mobile phones and other valuables.
The injured student was subsequently taken to GSCN Hospital in the Mile 6 area of Jalingo for medical treatment, according to sources.
The attack has sparked concerns among students over their safety and security, prompting the peaceful protest. Details regarding the identities of the attackers and any arrests made in connection with the incident remain unclear.
