The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deported a Liberian national, identified as Cermor Rio Boakai, following multiple criminal convictions, including sexual offences and assault.

In a statement shared on its official Facebook page, ICE said Boakai was removed from the United States after being convicted of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, fifth-degree assault, and driving under the influence (DUI).

According to the agency, Boakai legally entered the United States in March 1995 but was later ordered removed from the country as a result of his criminal convictions.

ICE said the deportation forms part of the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement efforts targeting non-citizens convicted of serious crimes.

“Under President Donald J. Trump, the U.S. has zero tolerance for illegal alien sex offenders,” the agency stated.

The agency did not disclose additional details regarding Boakai’s deportation or whether he has already arrived in Liberia.
