SZA’s SOS Breaks Records with 12 Weeks at No. 1 on Billboard 200

SZA’s groundbreaking album SOS has made history, securing its 12th nonconsecutive week atop the Billboard 200 chart. Boosted by the release of its deluxe LANA edition, the album earned 130,000 equivalent album units in the week ending January 2, including 125,500 streaming units (166.31 million on-demand streams), 4,000 album sales, and 500 track equivalent units.

This achievement cements SOS as the first R&B/hip-hop album by a woman to spend 12 weeks at No. 1 in 38 years. The last to reach such heights was Whitney Houston’s self-titled debut album in 1986, which held the top spot for 14 weeks.

The latest chart also features Kendrick Lamar climbing to No. 2, followed by Sabrina Carpenter at No. 3. The Wicked film soundtrack takes the fourth spot, with Billie Eilish rounding out the top five.

SZA’s record-breaking reign underscores her influence in reshaping modern R&B and affirms her place among music’s elite.
