President John Mahama has appointed Commissioner of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the new Inspector General of Police in Ghana. This appointment was made in accordance with Articles 91 and 202 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, and in consultation with the Council of State.
COP Yohuno, an experienced police officer with 40 years of service, takes over from COP George Akuffo Dampare. The presidency expressed confidence in COP Yohuno’s ability to lead the Ghana Police Service, stating, “COP Yohunu brings forty years of experience to the position of IGP and is expected to oversee the modernization and transformation of the Ghana Police Service”.
This appointment is seen as a significant step towards restructuring the Ghana Police Service, and COP Yohuno’s extensive experience is expected to bring about positive changes in the force.
