A plastic surgeon in the US has been charged in the death of his wife who reportedly suffered heart attack while he was performing liposuction, including ear adjustment procedures on her in his medical office.
US authorities said Dr. Ben Brown’s wife, Hillary Brown, was scheduled to have liposuction on her arms, lip injections, and an ear adjustment at his office outside Pensacola, Florida.
But while on his operating table, according to authorities, the late Hillary aged 33, started “twitching” and “her vision started to blur” showing early signs of “lidocaine toxicity.” Lidocaine is an anesthetic used mostly during surgery.
According to law enforcement officers, when the late Hillary started “twitching”, one of the surgeon’s assistants asked if she should call 911 but he allegedly told her, “no” or “wait” as he tried to revive his dying wife.
According to authorities, after about 20 minutes, 911 was called but Hilary never regained consciousness, and died in hospital a week later.
After the tragedy, Dr. Brown aged 41, reportedly turned himself in to police and was charged with manslaughter by culpable negligence. Reports say he was released after posting a $50,000 bond.
Dr. Ben and Hilary had been married for just 16 months, according to Hillary’s father, Marty Ellington.
