A South African pharmacist, Nomzila Madinane, has allegedly been shot dead in an attack carried out in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
The shooting incident reportedly happened at her pharmacy in Inchanga on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
A cashier and a security guard at the pharmacy were also killed during the attack.
Reports say Madinane opened the pharmacy a few days ago to improve access to healthcare in KwaNyuswa, near Hillcrest.
Police in KwaZulu-Natal say three murder cases have been opened following the deadly attack.
Spokesperson of the KwaZulu-Natal police command, Robert Netshiunda, says the three victims were ambushed by unknown gunmen while at the pharmacy.
He says ” Inchanga police opened three cases of murder following an incident in which two females and a security guard were shot by unknown people.”
He added that “The victims were fatally shot while the security guard sustained a gunshot wound and was taken to hospital where he succumbed to injuries.”
According to him, “Reports indicate that three armed stormed the pharmacy and opened fire, killing Madinane and her cashier at the scene.”
