Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion is fighting back against harassment, filing a petition for a restraining order against fellow rapper Tory Lanez, who is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting her in 2020. Despite being behind bars, Megan alleges that Lanez continues to target her through third-party surrogates, using them to spread misinformation and tarnish her reputation.
According to the petition, prison call logs show Lanez instructing bloggers to spread baseless claims about missing evidence in the case. Megan wrote, “Even now, while behind bars, Mr. Peterson shows no signs of stopping,” referring to Lanez by his real name, Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson.
Megan is seeking a restraining order to prevent further contact or harassment from Lanez. A court hearing is set for January 9, 2025. This move represents a continuation of Megan’s fight for justice and safety, which began with the traumatic events of 2020 and the subsequent three-year legal ordeal that culminated in Lanez’s 2023 conviction.
Lanez was found guilty of assault with a semiautomatic handgun, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, and negligently discharging a firearm. His decade-long prison sentence reportedly costs taxpayers an estimated R1.8 million annually.
Megan has been open about her harrowing experience, writing a powerful op-ed for Elle magazine, calling the verdict “a victory for every woman who has been shamed, dismissed, and blamed for a violent crime committed against her.” Social media has rallied behind Megan, celebrating her courage and resilience.
